But people do enter a state of mind, where other things become more important to them than what is important to you or me (like money, family....GC etc).

If it is true, how come the few person with old priority date (2002) is still waiting and some person with later priority date (2003,2004) got their GC..after Name check
RD is also not a reliable predictor since there are people who have been approved who applied for AOS in July 2007 while those who had applied prior to this are still waiting to see the light.
It is a random process for sure.

FWIK, EAD is just a work permit. It does not give you any status. So you have your H4 to keep your status and EAD to work.

Bills Introduced

It is expected that this will contain the same retrogression-elimination language that was contained in the 2006 version of the bill. The bill was introduced by Senator Cornyn and cosponsors include Senators Allard (R-CO), Bennett (R-UT), Hutchison (R-TX), and Lott (R-MS). As readers of this blog may be aware, Sen. Hutchison has long been a leader on Schedule A visa reform.
The second bill (S. 1092) seeks to immediately raise the H-1 quota, and was proposed directly as a result of last week�s immediately-reached H-1 visa cap. Sen. Hagel is the sponsor of this bill. The text of this bill is unavailable at this time as well.

"The spouse and children of a person who has previously immigrated to the U.S. may be entitled to obtain an immigrant visa at a later date. If you would like to see if you are eligible for follow-to-join status, please send us (consulate in India) a copy of the principal applicant's permanent resident card or I-551 or a copy of the principal applicant's passport pages indicating admission to the U.S. as an immigrant. Please also submit a copy of your birth certificate and/or marriage certificate. In this case baby would qualify for follow-to-join visa.

My son got his FAFSA approved last year. I am on H1 and he is on H4. Your daughter either way on H4 or EAD qualifies for FAFSA. If you have questions, you can call FAFSA directly and they are very helpful.

Are you sure, H4 qualifies for FAFSA. My wife is on H4 and she doesnt have SSN. I think if one has SSN, it doesnt matter whether they are in H1, H4, F1, EAD .. they can apply for FAFSA. Am I right?

Illegal immigration is no good for this country. We would rather have no immigration relief than having any immigration relief that comes with ammnesity. I used to work for a company A in california.. Boss is kind of using very bad language constantly and torchers almost everyday. Is there any1 who can help me out or has similar situations. Is there any1 that i can file a complain. Since he knew that I am on H1B and international student he was continuously abusing. any help would appreciated.

Before you do anything, consult with a lawyer. In most places, you can complain to your boss' boss, or to HR. But please do that after talking to a lawyer (labor law). In some environments it is normal to be like that.

you are right, but isnt that found only when you are travelling outside of the USA? If I am in USA till i get a gc and then add my wife, how will anyone know if she is out of status ?

Arjun, thanks for clarifying those things. I have a couple of final questions before I book my trip if you could please help me again.
(1) My first H1B was valid from Oct 2004 to Oct 2007, and I got my stamp in Dubai. The stamp expired on Oct 2007. My second H1B is valid from Oct 2007 to Oct 2010, and I am planning to go to Halifax for the stamping. I have stayed at the same company all this time. Does "revalidation" include my situation?
(2) When leaving for Canada, they did not take your white I-94 card (stapled to passport) at the US airport. When arriving in the US, they replaced your old I-94 with a new I-94 at the US airport. Please confirm that all this is correct.

I am also in similar situation.

I like the idea. But, when I had raised a similar issue before, some member called it "like begging at Indian Temples".
I know we Indians are very happy as long as something is free, but get very upset when some contribution is asked for the service.

I didnt make that statement because he doesnt agree with me. Go look at loveh1b's previous posts .. he is consistently against everything IV stands for.That begs the question why is he here ? I collected 7 letters yesterday by simply talking to people walking in & out of a grocery store. I wanted to see how it will be at the BART station and I am very encouraged by the response received yesterday. Most people (including GC holders and citizens) provided their names and addresses and signatures without hesitation.
The reasons for only 7 letters (could have collected 15):
1. I was on my own after all. When I was talking to someone a bunch of 3 walked out of the store and I could not do anything.
2. Heavy rains which prevented people from getting out in general.
My only worry now... if you guys in and around Fremont continue to look the other way, ignoring this call to your precious 1 hour on any ONE weekday evening, I might get only 200 letters... when you and I together could easily get 1000+ over 2 weeks!

My lawyer told me that using EAD will not effected H4 status . It is good to get extensions on H4 along with H1 even you use your EAD to be safer side if some thing wrong with 485
