Hi,
About a month back, i had gone to land at Vancouver though my actual destination was elsewhere. I flew into Vancouver and was directed to the immigration formalities area. I had taken the amount required as Cashier's checks.
It went pretty smoothly. The person in charge took the address in Canada where the PR card was to be sent. When landing, watch out the question how long you plan to be there? That was it !!!
While returning, I came back using AP documents. That was also smooth.
Thanks for other people's experiences. It was helpful.

local chapters....I have been part to two chapters but not seeing any communication happening around. On one chapter last communication is on June 2010 with 170 members and on another chapter last communication is on Dec 2010 with 9 members.
Local chapters need to be as active as IV forum to engage their members to take part actively.

Just goes to prove that if the current system goes to serve YOUR narrow self interest, you will go to no end to justify it AND defend it... even at the cost of creating deep divides amongst a larger group. Suddenly, your sense of outrage has been channeled against EB3 I's seeking a voice and not against the 'system' that you claimed to care fixing. Nice. A chameleon would be proud to welcome you to the family.

If many EB3-I folks are getting GCs then why is EB3-I PD stuck in 2001? Shouldn't it move?
One other note; those eb3 to eb2 conversoins original priority dates were 2003 in eb3.

The fact is that the biggest immediate issue facing the majority of people is Not a green card, it is that they cannot even file for it. Wasn't retrogression the whole reason why people joined IV? GC processing was always slow, and that was a big problem. But it only got to be a critical problem when people realized they could not change jobs and their spouses could not work due to the retrogression.
Let us focus on the low hanging fruits first.

a) Filing for stage 3 regardless of PD
b) Relief for people in the LC mess
c) Fingerprinting one person just Once (i mean fingerprints dont change do they?)
... does it make sense to go for a Comprehensive Permanent solution or does it make sense to ask for smaller tid-bits and treat the other costs we incur as "costs of doing business"? ... Let us seriously think about this solution.

Thanks gc28262 for your contributions to this drive. I request others to pitch in as well. We can discuss the nitty-gritties till we bleed. But that won't achieve anything. It will not stop the minformation being spread. We have to collect enough evidence and present it to the media. 4-5 job ads is just the beginning, we need a collection of few hundred to prove this is the prevalent trend.

I think we all understand we are in this together. No doubt.
A single post from CORE IV can make a huge difference to herd the cattle (including myself) here. For Instance, AILA letter asking for H1B and EB relief today.
I had posted a modified version of their letter in our forum in which I had deleted asking for raise in H1 and retained only EB part. IF IV core thinks
this is a good (or a bad ) idea and suggests what to do, our members will be energized.
For my part, I have added my personal story, added the EB relief part of AILA letter and emailed two senators and one congressman in my state.
Also, the same letters signed are ready in an envelope to be snail mailed.
So, IV core, from time to time, when there is a campaign by AILA and other organizations which could help us, please suggest how you would like us to proceed.I am not trying to create more work for you, but as a member, I think it would benefit all of us.

It involves but not limited to funding drive to sustain and grow efforts, membership drive to grow in size and have impact of numbers, generating awareness and building support via media articles. Speculating will not help much. Pls. do participate in these drives in order to build momentum for the coming months and we will all have better chances for any legislative change. We are all in this together and we all need to work hard to enable a change

Hi All,
Me and my wife got our physical cards today. Buit the issue is my wife last name hasnt not been changed to my last name. It is still her maiden name. We have requested them while filing for I-485 with our marriage certificate.
We can still live with this but there SSn, Passport everything has been changed to my last name already. even has EAD card had my last name.
Any sugguestion as wat can be done. We r afraid were gettin our green card happiness will take a while now.

Excellent Dude! .. that is what we need to do... youtube/google all the videos related to this campaign.... Few areas of improvements to be noted synchronization between visuals and the vocals... and it also ended abruptly..
